Becoming a member of the SCIC is the best way to stay informed of changes in the regulatory environment for the service contract industry. Members receive access to 50-state legislative updates, analysis of state and federal rulings of interest, and other information, all which are available on the members-only area of the website. Additionally, members are entitled to full voting rights on the SCIC’s lobbying priorities, plus access to the Association’s annual meeting and conference calls.

If your company is engaged in the business of service contracts as a provider, retailer, administrator, or underwriter, whether you are active in the home, consumer goods, or a motor vehicle space, the SCIC can help your business grow and thrive.

Benefits of SCIC membership include:

Lobbying - Expert advocacy before legislative bodies and regulatory agencies in all 50 states with experience in communicating with legislative leadership and senior-level regulators about issues affecting the service contract industry, especially on matters related to public policy and compliance.

Legislative Tracking - Electronic monitoring of legislation that may impact the regulation of the service contract industry and or SCIC member companies. Upon request, we can also track pertinent issues for individual member companies.

Legal Services – SCIC’s General Counsel reviews relevant case law, administrative opinions, insurance bulletins, and other regulatory guidance documents requiring legal analysis affecting member companies. The General Counsel also corresponds with state regulators about the statutes and rules that impact the service contract industry in a given state.

Management Services - Day-to-day management of SCIC’s business affairs, including scheduling and facilitating teleconferences, special meetings, and the Association annual meeting; serving as custodian of SCIC funds; handling the invoicing and collection of membership dues; and maintenance of the SCIC website.

Information Services - Through our legislative and regulatory tracking efforts, we post summaries of relevant legislation impacting the service contract industry, administrative bulletins or regulatory opinions that affect our members, and other newsworthy items. This information is made available only to members through a password-protected component of the SCIC website. In addition to the online database, the Association has regular conference calls to discuss pending legislative or regulatory changes that impact member companies.
