We are the Service Contract Industry Council (SCIC), and we help you grow your business while cost-effectively addressing compliance. SCIC’s mission is to keep our members informed and assure a healthy, sustainable market for vehicle, home, and consumer good service contracts for member companies and consumers alike.
Member Benefits:
- Stay Informed. Your team efficiently keeps abreast of relevant developments as SCIC continually scans for federal and state legislative, regulatory and litigation matters important to your business, and serves them up weekly to members in concise summaries with supporting detail. We do the work for you.
- Know the Rules. Your team will have ready access to multiple 50-state surveys that define the compliance framework(s) for the products. Since the surveys are continually updated and enhanced, your firm will always have the rules at the ready. Your team can also get answers to ad hoc questions posed to SCIC staff (Note: SCIC cannot provide legal advice).
- Pursue Priorities. Whether on offense or defense, you can take comfort knowing that SCIC is advancing or protecting the members’ collective agenda through advocacy in Congress, the states, and in the media. You can also influence priorities through member votes (more below).
Member Meetings: You’ll get a chance to meet face-to-face with your peers and our staff at the SCIC Annual Meeting to learn, network, and determine funded projects for the coming year. By way of monthly conference calls, your team will hear updates of relevant developments, can pose questions, and exchange insights.
Membership Eligibility: Service contract providers including administrators, retailers, insurers, and manufacturers providing service contracts covering consumer goods, automobiles, and home are welcome to join. To see a list of SCIC members, please click here.
Membership Fees: All members pay the same flat fee for all of the services described above, payable annually or in quarterly installments. With membership vote and approval, on occasion member assessments may be applied to address a special initiative that was not part of the annual member-driven budgeting and prioritization process.
